Mission

SUDI aims to play a pivotal role for industry, academy, and research institute collaboration research by conducting research about urban and local governance, local autonomy, decentralization, local finance, and environmental governance. It also intends to contribute to the improvement of the quality of urban life by accumulating urban information and to train talented people to contribute to urban development and exchanging information with professional organizations.

• By identifying urban issue and present alternative, SUDI upgrades ‘quality of life’ of urbanite contribute to national development, and improve status of korean urban policy
• SUDI diagnoses issues related to local autonomy and decentralization, and develops direction for future.
• SUDI presents policies related to the rational provision of environment and finance for sustainable city and province
• SUDI proposes a long-term urban development plan through urban planning, housing and community development
• SUDI develops database about urban information and uses it for urban research and as base for policy development
